Pennsylvania Rye

“Pennsylvania Rye Company is a New American restaurant and whiskey bar located on Hamilton Street in Allentown. It's open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM and Sunday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. My friend and I made our first visit early Friday evening. The service was good, and the food more than lived up to expectations. We started with tender, well-seasoned beef skewers, crispy buffalo wings over blue cheese, and perfectly cooked roasted cauliflower paired with a tasty tzatziki sauce and pickled onion. For my entree, I ordered the maple-glazed short rib. It was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth, and came with creamy sweet potato puree and roasted shallots. My friend ordered the rich, deeply flavorful bolognese. Although she received the small plate portion rather than the entree, it wasn't a major issue as we had more than enough food. There are still many items on the menu I'd like to try, and after such a strong first visit, I'll most certainly be back.”

“If you haven’t tried this restaurant yet, you are missing out! I’m a foodie who has been disappointed lately with some of the restaurants I’ve been too. This one did not disappoint. Even the water was excellent. I had the mushroom risotto and added steak. It was considered a small plate, but it was more than enough for me. I even took some home. My daughter had the bolognese and absolutely loved it! We shared our favorite dessert, crème brûlée. It was perfect and delicious. Don’t leave without at least one drink. I had an old fashioned and it could’ve been dessert. It was so good. Lastly, shoutout to our fantastic waiter, Andrew. He made our dining experience feel more like dinner at a friend’s house he was so warm and friendly. I’m looking forward to my next visit. For those with concerns about parking: there is a city lot right behind this restaurant. I paid $3. A bargain for those familiar with NYC parking!”

“The atmosphere was not comfy. It was chilly and weird there. It felt like we were sitting on top of other people. The tables are very close to each other; less than a foot. The food was ok, except the French fries. They were dry and tasteless. Sandwiches were good! 👍 The service was perfect!”

“My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The vibe/atmosphere is rustic and casual, yet the cocktails and food make it feel upscale. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive and gave great recommendations. I had the Cuban and my brother had the cheesesteak…both were excellent. And the fries were thin and crispy and perfect. Looking forward to the next visit.”
